American Airlines
Frequent flyer points are worthless

We were, for many, many years loyal American Airlines Credit card users. We accumulated hundreds of thousands of points by charging all our personal and business expenses to their credit card. In the past, we were able to get a domestic ticket for 25000 miles which is the same amount that is charged by most of the other airlines. Three months before our trip, we tried to book a trip to London for the usual, customary 50,000 points. Even though our dates were flexible, AA would not give us a seat unless we agreed to pay them 80,000 miles for a economy seat. We had no choice but to have them deduct this astronomical amount from our account. The same day, I read in USA today that American Airlines along with Delta Airlines have the worst record for allocating frequent flyer seats. Since then, I have stopped using their credit card. In addition, when we took their 777 Boeing flight from London to LA, we were shocked to find out that they only allow one checked in bag free, the second one being 50.00 (most foreign airlines allow two free bags), a beer cost 6.00 (again, most airlines on international flights, liquor is free) and for a 11 hour flight, we got only one full meal and two snacks. Many of the passengers were pissed because their video systems in front of their seats were not working. We have other options, we have lots of choices..sorry American, you lost me as a customer.
