I received multiple calls about getting solar. I'm not sure where they got my details, but when I said NO, I was told I was stupid and an idiot for wasting my money on power with AGL. The salesperson was relentless, and his supervisor, who had an Irish accent, also harassed me until my son blocked their number. However, they kept calling from different numbers.
I complained to the ombudsman, who assured me it would stop. It didn’t, and I ended up changing the number I had for over 15 years. I feel like a fool because I gave them my bank details, and now they have everything they need to take what they will. I called my bank, who assured me no money could be taken out, but I’ve had to change my account number for my own safety.
I live week to week and can’t afford to lose any money, especially now that the cost of living has increased so much. I own my home but struggle to pay my rates and have barely enough to survive on for food and other essentials. My son and daughter-in-law have kindly helped me with this as I have very few computer skills.
When I told my friends on Tuesday while playing bridge, two of them had been harassed as much as I have, but they never supplied their bank details. I feel very stupid, and it’s not fair to target pensioners who fought for this country in the war to protect it. I’m angry and sad and hope no one else has to go through what I have. Losing my wife 18 months ago was hard enough. She handled all the money and would be shaking her head at me right now for my stupidity. I’m sorry, Janice. I miss your level-headed strength, and honestly, I’m lost without you.
